From the tour
You're not going to find a better deal in northeast LA this week. A restored 1920s Spanish monglone El Serena with tons of original charm, period-appropriate updates, and lots of potential. Listed at just $895,000, where at 5,436 Norwich Ave in the Dorchester Flat section of El Serena, this one is a 3-bed 2-bath on 1370 square feet of living space. You have the Batchalder fireplace, a little recessed nook for displaying your beautiful items, you have the hardwood floors, a arched picture window at the front, and those plaster walls and ceilings, a medallion over the light fixture above the dining table, and a traditional configuration for a Spanish style home dining center and the kitchen off to the other side, with a little breakfast nook at the end. I love the beautiful colors that we have here in the kitchen with those checkerboard floors. Tell me, do you like the colors here? What do you think of the kitchen? Now the property has been completely remodeled, so you have a lot of cosmetic updates and systems updates as well, so you're getting a home that functions really well. Now the bedrooms are going to be in the back of the home. You have crown molding here in the primary bedroom. I call it the primary because we do have an ensuite and you'll see that both bathrooms are decorated in an art deco style, but a more modern take with what appear to be zellish tiles. What up? That's me. Now we have two additional bedrooms in the back and the shared bathroom, which is quite stunning. I love the pops of color throughout this home, the hardwood floors, and all of the wonderful features. If you haven't been thinking about El Cerveno, just think about this. We have Canyon coffee that is rumored to be moving in quite soon near this property, actually just on Huntington, which is a little bit north. Now what does that mean for the neighborhood? I think it means that people are starting to take notice. We have really trendy businesses moving in, and we have a lot of upswing on the prices of homes in this area. So I think it's time to start thinking about El Cerveno if you haven't already. It's a place you could still get a deal, but I think in the next few years that will change. So what do we have here in the backyard? We have a two car detached garage, lots of potential there. You have plenty of space for outdoor dining for lounging, and a lot of potential for setting up a garden back here. We do have a spacious backyard. It's only around a 4800 square foot lot, but look at all the usable space that you have back here. Plus the home has seen a lot of systems updates, including a new electric panel, new roof and foundations. You have a really moved in ready home.
